"Confrontational: Tattoos, Agency, Authority, and U.S. Infantry."
This is the final paper I completed for a "War and the U.S." anthropology seminar course in May 2012 at the University of Notre Dame. I used primary phone and email interviews with tattoo artists and shop staff operating near select major Army and Marine Corps installations, and secondary research, to explore types of military tattoos, their anthropological context and the tension between soldiers, their tattoos and official U.S. infantry culture.

“Bombs and Keystrokes: Asymmetric Threats to the Petroleum Supply of the United States” in Beyond Politics (Spring 2012). University of Notre Dame.
This paper was published in the University of Notre Dame's peer-reviewed Beyond Politics journal in the spring of 2012. I wrote it as the final paper for an "Asymmetric Warfare" political science seminar course the previous semester, fall 2011. My research explored the potential threats posed by cyber-attacks against the petroleum supply of the United States and possible ramifications and solutions of those threats.

“Paradise Lost and Won: The Indonesian-East Timorese Struggle and the Roles of Inherency and Contingency in Ethnic Conflicts” in Journal of Undergraduate International Studies 9 (2010): 74-80. University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I wrote "Paradise Lost and Won" as a research paper for an "Ethnic Conflict" political science course in spring 2010 at the University of Notre Dame. It was published in the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Journal of Undergraduate International Studies, fall 2010 edition. My work examines the Indonesian-East Timorese (Timor-Leste) conflict, looking for causes and lessons to be learned. I do not have a link to the publication at the moment and have not yet scanned the printed copy I have, but please inquire if you are interested in seeing it.
